The notebook begins with things that do not seem to belong together: half a sentence, something overheard on a walk, a colour that stayed in mind. Trying to fit them all into one story makes each feel a little weaker. Looked at separately, three questions keep returning: what makes us stop, what makes us curious and what do we carry with us?
Giving each question an episode creates room rather than cutting the ideas down. The episodes come from the same notebook, but do not say the same thing. One stays inside a moment, another explores what surrounds it and the third looks back for a different meaning. Shared curiosity, rather than repeated answers, holds them together.
