Does an object’s story have to end when something new takes its place? A bag with worn handles, a jacket missing a button or a table with a scratched edge carries traces of the years it has been used. There is room for a whole conversation between seeing those marks as flaws and seeing them as memories.
Sharing is more than passing an object to someone else. Explaining how it was used, where it came from and why it was kept passes on some of its history too. A conversation around a table opens into a broader question: what kind of relationship do we want with the things we own?
